Retro surfboard, MR, Mark Richards 1984, shaped by Mark Richards. This board was one of his personal riders which he rode in the iconic 80’s Tooheys ad. He rode two boards in that ad, and this is one of them.
Once in a life time an opportunity like this comes along to grab an incredible and beautiful piece of surfing history, which has been hidden away over 15 years and now it could be yours. Extremely rare and collectible – boards of this nature rarely ever come up for sale. This is a museum quality piece of Australian surfing history. You can hang this one on your wall with pride knowing you have a truly collectable piece to add to, or start, your collection. Has been cleaned up showing off most battle scars around her. Where the signature is, it has been repaired and sprayed. There are also some puff in sprays on the rails, the swallows and base of the fins. There are a few small repairs on the bottom. The white Lightning Bolt Australia on the deck and bottom is a sticker and was added at a later stage of his surfing career. This board was originally glassed very light, so those repairs have not added weight to her. This board has also been signed by Mark, stating it is the board that was used in the Tooheys ad. Mark has also confirmed this via email, in which he said:
“The thruster on the right is definitely the Tooheys board”
